Purposes of practicum

  • My purpose is to learn how to be a global teacher wherein to be more competitive, ready to explore things for the betterment of one self or for all. I want also to challenge myself to experience new things in the field of education.

Procedures of practicum

  • Before I do my teaching Sir Indra gave me an introduction about the school and Ms abit taught me how to make a lesson plan for the International and Indonesian Lesson plan.

  •    After a week of observing the class of Sir Ferdinand, international teacher for English for Academic Purposes class, Ms Saphria and Sir Haerudin, public speaking and grammar class teachers, I teach in their class.

Outcomes of practicum

  1. I can say the outcome was indeed successful. I managed every student to recite and participate in my class with a smile on their faces.

  2. The students were able to present their individual and group word infront with confidence in themselves.

The challenges of practicum

  • The challenges that I encounter during my practicum in Indonesia were first how to make a lesson plan using the International Lesson plan it’s quite easy for me because it is translated to English and quite same to my university in the Philippines. I just match the information in the column where it is supposed to be.

  • Second was making a lesson plan using the National Lesson plan. It’s very challenging because the sample lesson is in Bahasa language luckily my buddy helped me to translate it in English.

  • The third and the most challenging part of my practicum is attending a meeting with the management having a different language other than English. It is my most challenging part because I can’t understand what they are saying but I can understand few when I use context clues plus their words are somewhat same to Filipino.

Overall impression

  • My overall impression is that Indonesia has a good culture wherein they respect each other they treat everyone equal with them. When I was with the people of Daar el Qolam people there are so caring, thoughtful, kind, friendly and they let you feel that you’re welcome.

The director of Daar el Qolam 3 is awarding me a plaque in fulfilment of my practice teaching in their school.

Suggestions for future improvement

  • I want to suggest that every meeting with the management or any meeting that includes the visitor (exchange student) it would be better to use English so that they will not feel bad about not understanding them.
